Expanding to a height of 9 feet, the object engages the viewer on a figural scale. The increase in size projects an increased spatial tension. Designed in computer space, the object is recreated from the same materials as a contemporary New York City payphone; anodized aluminum, stainless steel, plexiglass, and silk screened graphics. Within the context of the still-life, payphone is a series of worn surfaces. Details such as scratches and dirt emphasize the historicity of the object.
